Natural Products Canada (NPC) is a not-for-profit organization with a vision to make Canada flourish as the Silicon Valley of natural products. It aims to align, expand, and optimize the pan-Canadian natural products ecosystem to accelerate the development of products and technology platforms that bring real value to real customers. NPC was established in 2016, and is funded by a range of public and private investors, including the Government of Canada’s Centre of Excellence in Commercialization and Research (CECR) program administered by the Networks of Centres of Excellence.
The Business Analyst is an entrepreneurial spirited individual with a desire to work in a fast paced and challenging environment. Reporting to the CEO, the Business Analyst is responsible for tasks related to assessment of business plans, associated industry and market research, scientific and technical evaluation, investment due diligence support, and other related activities.
Assess business plans for clients and other strategic documents as required, including market, industry, and/or financial analysis.
Assess go-to-market strategies, development plans, regulatory considerations, and process innovation for commercialization of products and technologies in the natural products sector.
Prepare documentation related to potential investment opportunities considered for NPC.
Support the due diligence process.
Assist in monitoring of investments in NPC’s portfolio.
Follow trends and sector and/or industry-specific news.
Assist in compilation of reporting requirements to funding agencies.
Perform other related duties as required.
Desired Experience and Skills Required
Experience conducting market and/or industry research and the preparation of summary reports.
Experience analyzing operational and strategic plans for technology and/or product development.
Experience in scientific, technology, and/or product assessment.
Experience with and/or knowledge of the investment and due diligence process.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously.
Critical evaluation skills and the ability to see the big picture.
Strong business acumen.
Results oriented individual.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong team player.
Ability to work independently.
A minimum of 3 -5 years of related work experience.
An undergraduate degree in Business and/or Science or combination of relevant work experience.
Proficiency in MS Office and Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
